from vox to typepad. could it be true.will it sway me away from wordpress. let's see...
why is it that when you're a designer everyone thinks they can do your job or, at least tell you how to do your job. that's what i'm dealing with right now. in my office of four designers someone is dealing with that same issue every other day. very frustrating. i'm working hard on releasing that anger and frustration...just letting it go. breathe. breathe. release.
i'm feeling better already. anyone else fall prey to "everyone's a designer" syndrome?
i've been holding out for more customization and now vox has it. it's serendipitous given that i had just decided to close the doors of my old blog. close a door...open a window.
i'm outta' here for a couple days and i couldn't be more excited. a few days in chicago and a chance to hear some pretty impressive people talk about design and design "management". i'm most excited by the fact that claudia kotchka is the keynote on sunday night. i've been a claudia fan since she was featured in fast company. if you don't get fast company you're missing more than you know. there are few other magazines where you read such inspiring articles about such interesting people. but i digress, i have the odd kind of mind that geeks out on both design and business. hearing people like claudia who is a true design champion is so inspiring to me. stay tuned for a recap.
DESIGN QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"When I am working on a problem I never think about beauty. I only
think about how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the
solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.”
Buckminster Fuller.
What did you think you would never ever do... but did?

i never thought i'd be divorced. i believed that marriage worked when people worked at it. i naively did not account for the fact that two people have to work at it and that those people are flawed and that work is harder than you could ever imagine.
as a designer i have struggled with and ultimately resisted (until now) using a template not designed by me. i think maybe that's being a bit ridiculous since i'm not making my living via this site. maybe i just need to post more and worry less about where the hell i'm posting and what it looks like. I've got a blog that i designed but i'm tired of paying for it. it seems ridiculous when i'm posting so little and using flickr for pix. hmmm. a conundrum but not quite. oh, and this one is so well designed. seriously, the interface is excellent.
a serendipitous combination, moira cullen interviews tibor kalman. i
heard moira speak at the last HOW conference and she's been on my
design superstars list ever since. imagine my delight when i found an interview she did with tibor kalman. tibor and maira kalman are somewhere near the tip top of my superstars list.

I love this! Thanks for sharing it with us! read more
